Bobby Shmurda is free from prison after six years

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past two days, Bobby Shmurda was released from prison earlier today. The rapper was incarcerated for six years for conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and gun possession.

Shmurda rose to prominence after the release of his song “Hot N—a” which became an inescapable global party anthem thanks to the tracks accompanying Shmoney Dance. Other tracks like “Bobby B—h,” his feature on Rowdy Rebel’s “Computers,” and “Living Life” helped build a cult fanbase that persists to this day.

Since being released, Bobby has been welcomed home by seemingly every corner of the internet and the world at large. In an article written by Billboard, artists like Yung Bleu, Jaden Smith, 6lack, and CJ spoke on how excited they were for Shmurda’s release and Migos’ Quavo even greeted the 26-year old rapper with a stack of cash and a private jet ride back home.
