Cali emcee Phora dropped his first project of the year last Friday titled heartbreak hotel. As advertised, the seven-track project is a collection of wistful love songs that reflect on the rapper/singer’s past relationships.
Being that the project was delivered two days before Valentine’s Day, Phora provides a soundtrack for those who weren’t boo’d up for V-Day. Songs like “Loaded Gun”, “the art of letting go” with Destiny Rogers, and “room 427” embody the sting of one’s feelings post-breakup.
With lyrics like “sh*t ain’t been the same since you left me here, I think about you but memories ain’t never clear” on “where do we go when there’s nothing left” and “I’ve been hurt by you too many times, so I keep you in my heart and not my life” on “Loaded Gun”, Phora is guaranteed to put anyone into their bag.
